Hello, and Welcome!

As owner and counselor of Rooted in Nature Counseling, I really appreciate that you have taken a moment to explore what my company is all about!

First, a quick glance at who I am and the philosophy that I believe in:

I am a pre-licensed counselor that understands the counseling process from both sides of “the couch”. Having experienced difficulties in my own life (and having personally felt the growth that is possible through trauma therapy), I approach every session and each therapeutic relationship with the following feeling:

I am honored to be here with you today.

Tara Kubik, MS

Trauma Therapist; Owner

Whether you are an individual considering therapeutic services to deepen your healing, a fellow therapist looking for adjunctive services for an existing client, or are just curious about what trauma therapy is all about, feel free to reach out! I would love to connect with you! As owner and counselor of Rooted in Nature, it is my hope to foster therapeutic relationships, networking opportunities and collaborations, and to advocate for mental health and healing.

Academic training

I completed my Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Trauma from Walden University, and my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Civic and Community Engagement from Pennsylvania State University.

Pre-licensed Counselor

As I continue to work towards licensure, I am honored to have the opportunity to practice under (and learn from) Dr. Emily Belsito.

Clinical experience

I have dedicated my studies and my clinical experience to the specialization of trauma therapy. In doing so, I became a fully-trained EMDR therapist and am working towards my EMDR certification. Additionally, I completed a specialized training in the approach of EMDR Intensives.

Education and Training

As a fully-trained EMDR Therapist, I have learned (and experienced) the importance of trauma-focused care. For that reason, I created my private practice with trauma-focused approaches at the forefront. One way I do so is by working  alongside  individuals to create a therapeutic plan that best suites each client’s unique needs. Another way I do so is by offering therapies that are supported by research, are evidence-based, and are deemed effective. The approach that I specialize in, EMDR therapy, more than meets this criteria. It is available in various formats (see "EMDR" or "Intensives" tabs for more information) and is able to provide healing from the root up. It goes beyond "talk therapy", to address underlying (and subconscious) beliefs that affect our functioning. In other words, the beliefs that were ingrained in us (in childhood or through genetics) become our "operating system". EMDR can help reset that system, and provide you with the opportunity to operate on the beliefs you choose.

Personal

I find that having balance is an integral part of my wellbeing and my personal healing journey, but not the "picture-perfect" representation that balance is often portrayed as... instead, I embrace the ever-changing balance of life and our human-ness. I don't believe in "perfection" (even though I forget and strive for it sometimes - I am always quickly reminded that it does not exist!) Balance often includes multiple moving parts (i.e., family, work/life, spiritual, personal, social, etc.), and each part will never be balanced equally. It is a constant balancing act that I have learned to radically accept.

I also embrace the chaos and craziness of life. Have you ever heard that saying, "get all your duck in row"? Well, mine are most definitely not in a row. They are all over the place, quacking loudly; and while it drives me mad sometimes, and can be very frustrating, I embrace my ducks. If you can relate, or want to learn how to embrace your ducks, there's a good chance that we will be a good therapeutic fit!
